EMILY AUSBROOK NAMED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF SANTA MONICA
Santa Monica, CA – The Board of Governors of The Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Monica (BGCSM) announced the selection of Emily Ausbrook as its new Chief Executive Officer.  Ms. Ausbrook assumes her new position on Monday, October 22, 2018.
Ms. Ausbrook comes to BGCSM after seven years with After-School All-Stars, an organization operating youth programs started by former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, where she was responsible for national marketing and resource development.  She has also held marketing, programming and development positions with Operation Hope and People Assisting the Homeless.
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to lead this wonderful organization which has served local youth for almost 75 years,” Ms. Ausbrook said.  “Given its strong level of community support, strong Board, talented and motivated staff and dedicated parents and other volunteers, BGCSM provides a wide variety of outstanding academic, athletic and social programs and enjoys an excellent reputation within the Boys and Girls Clubs national movement.  I believe we can further strengthen and expand on its current programs, as well as enhance its financial backing.”
“With excitement and optimism, we welcome Emily as our new CEO,” said Board Chair, Jason Meugniot.  “After an intensive, six-month search process, the Board of Governors looks forward to working closely with Emily.  Her genuine care for young people and her leadership experience at After-School All-Stars positions her well to serve and grow Santa Monica’s finest youth organization.”
BGCSM serves over 4,000 local youth, annually, aged 6 – 18, at five sites, including four in Santa Monica and one in the Mar Vista Gardens housing project.  Programs focus on three core pillars: academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship.  Through community support and strong local partnerships, the Club is able to provide programs costing over $1,000, annually, for only $20 per child.  And no fee is charged at the Mar Vista Gardens Club.
The staff and Board of Governors believe that every child and teen has great potential, beyond their dreams and expectations.  The Club’s role is to create a safe, caring environment with a focus of assuring that every member feels welcomed, appreciated and respected.  Programs maintain the highest quality while meeting the needs and interests of Club members by offering engaging, fun and consistent activities that are age specific, diverse, progressive and impactful.
Mission: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those that need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
