For Ricardo, music provides a creative outlet and a safe space. We are proud to announce that Ricardo, a member at the Mar Vista Gardens Club, has been recognized as a 2024-25 Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Arts Contest winner.
His original composition, Twilight, earned top honors in the Digital Arts Ages 16-18 category.
The song represents what Ricardo describes as “an escape from a harsh reality,” progressing through “phases of chaos, ultimately ending in pure stillness.” Watch the video to see his artist statement and listen to the song!
“Music allows me to express myself,” Ricardo shared. “The listener should feel like they’re fighting their way through chaos in order to find true peace.”
This piece was created and recorded at the music production studio at the Mar Vista Gardens Club. This Club location operates in partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA).
