Celebrating 80 Years at our Annual Gala

By May 23, 2024September 13th, 2024No Comments

Over 300 friends and supporters gathered on Friday, May 17 at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica to celebrate Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica’s 80th Anniversary. We honored eight decades of transformative change for kids who need us most and looked forward to an even bigger future of impact in our community!

Thank you to our Presenting Sponsors, BCM Foundation and Pacific Youth Foundation.

Upon arrival, guests were welcomed by Club Ambassadors, teens from our John Adams Middle School Boys & Girls Clubs. Then guests were treated to a plethora of silent auction items including trips and experiences, fine wines and dining, and art created by Club members. Once inside the ballroom, they had the rare opportunity to enjoy a performance by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica Choir. The event was hosted by two Youth of the Year participants, Haley and Lorena, who shared their own stories about the impact the Club has had on their development.

CEO Brynja Seagren and former CEO and Club Alumn, Allan Young, shared pearls of wisdom—emphasizing the role Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica plays in providing access to once in a lifetime opportunity for kids.

The evening was filled with walks down memory lane as board members, alumni, and current Club members shared their Club stories. Hear their stories in this video!

To wind down the evening, Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica and LA County Youth of the Year Winner, Jayson, shared his inspirational story about his first days at the Club and how the Club and staff helped shape him to the young man he is today. As Jayson prepares to start his next chapter at college in the fall, he reflected on all the opportunities available to him because of Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica. We are grateful for the opportunity to make a lifelong difference in our community, one kid at a time.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors and guests we raised over $560,000 to support vital programming dedicated to leadership development, workforce readiness, healthy lifestyles, and emotional well-being. We are truly grateful for the commitment of so many to equip us to provide excellent programs for over 2,000 kids annually.
