2025 YOUTH OF THE YEAR INSPIRES HOPE FOR A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Local Junior Wins Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica’s Annual Leadership Competition

Santa Monica, Calif. – Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica is proud to name Haley C. as their 2025 Youth of the Year. A passionate advocate for environmental sustainability and community leadership, Haley’s decade-long journey at the Club has shaped her into a driven changemaker, committed to creating a better future.

As Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica’s Youth of the Year, Haley will move on to compete for the chance to represent LA County, the state of California, and beyond.

Haley has embraced every opportunity the Club has to offer—from cooking and coding to theater—building confidence and resilience along the way. “The Club gave me a chance to develop resilience by helping me adjust to new situations and overcome challenges,” she shared.

Now an 11th grader at Santa Monica High School, Haley channels her passion for sustainability as President and founder of the Heal the Bay Club, leading beach cleanups and raising awareness about protecting the ocean. “I’m a strong advocate for beautifying our environment and making it cleaner and healthier,” she said. Her commitment to service extends beyond environmental causes—she also founded her school’s chapter of the Glimmer Childhood Cancer Club, leading efforts to fundraise for pediatric cancer research.

In addition to her advocacy work, Haley serves as Student Board Member at her high school, representing her peers and working on key issues like campus safety and facility improvements. “These opportunities have taught me how to make informed decisions and positively impact the daily lives of my peers,” she shared.

Brynja Seagren, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica, praised Haley’s leadership and dedication: “Haley represents everything we strive to instill in our Club members—confidence, resilience, and a drive to make a difference. She is not only an exceptional young leader, but she also reminds us of the boundless potential our kids have when given the right opportunities and support.”

Looking ahead, Haley is determined to keep making a difference. “I want to advocate for positive change in every environment I’m in,” she said. With her unstoppable drive and commitment to problem solving, Haley is leading the way for a more hopeful and sustainable future.
