Youth of the Year

Find Your Voice. Shape Your Future. Make Your Mark.

What is Youth of the Year?

Youth of the Year is a premier, nationally recognized Boys & Girls Clubs leadership program that provides opportunities to gain future-ready skills, share their stories, and compete for scholarships.

It’s your chance to step up, stand out, and be recognized for who you are and who you’re becoming.

  • Develop public speaking skills
  • Share your unique story
  • Connect with mentors
  • Compete for scholarships up to $50,000.

Through fun workshops and supportive coaching, you’ll explore your dreams for the future, build confidence, make new friends, and develop skills that colleges and employers are looking for. Whether you’re just starting your leadership journey or ready to take it to the next level, Youth of the Year helps you transform your life experiences into your launchpad for future success.

Who is Youth of the Year for?

Youth of the Year is for all high schoolers! Prepare for your future, build your resume, and find success. We also offer a Jr. Youth of the Year program for middle schoolers. It’s never too early to start your leadership journey!

When is Youth of the Year?

The program runs throughout the fall, with the final competition held in February.

Why is Youth of the Year important?

Through Youth of the Year, we’re building Santa Monica’s next generation of community leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. The program represents our organization’s commitment to providing high-quality, future-focused development opportunities that prepare young people—especially those who need us most—to thrive in school, career, and life while making meaningful contributions to our community.
